FREQUENCY OF ΤΗΕ BENIGN TUMORS OF GALLBLADDER AND TRACT ΙΝ OUR CLINIC AND THEIR MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Among the cases of Biliary tract in Clinic, there is a small number of benign tumors (polyps, papillomas, Adenomas). From 417 simple chlolecystectomies performed in our Clinic during the last ten years 19 patients were operated for benign tumors without gallstones, f.e. rate 4% of the simple cholecystectomies. Ιn the gallbladder we encountered adenoma, adenomyomatosis and polyps. From the 19 patients we had: 10 patients with adenoma (rate 52% ) 6 papillary and 4 non papillary (male 3, female 7). 7 patients with adenomyomatosis (rate 36,5%) = (male 2, female 5) 2 patients (both females) with polyps of inflammatory origin (rate 11,5%). Benign tumors of the extrahepatic biliary ducts are and were not encountered in our Clinic. There was histological confirmation of all our cases. Following cholecystectomy we had no complication and the patients were free of symptoms. We wish to emphasize the possibility of the benign tumors becoming malignant - especially the adenoma - and we believe the indication of cholecystectomy on the benign tumors of gallbladder and billiary tract.References
