Abstract

Ιn a group of 93 patients who were operated for choledocholithiasis, an estimation (comparison) between surgical findings and preoperative I.V. cholangiogram and ultrasound of extrahepatic biliary tract was done. Preoperative I.V. cholangiogram was done in 90 patient and X-rays were positive for lithiasis in 73 patients (sensitivity 82%). Ultrasound was done in 84 and it was positive for lithiasis in 47 patients (56%). Ιn conclusion I.V. cholangiogram has an advandage comparing with ultrasound concerning the investigation of galstones in the CBD.
