PAPILLOMAS OF ΤΗΕ GALLBLADDER
Abstract
Ιn this study we refer to 13 patients surgically managed in our department, with the preoperative diagnosis of papilloma of the gallbladder. This diagnosis was inferred preoperatively through investigation by ultrasonography and cholecystography. Ιn 4 cases the lesions proved to be cholesterol polyps, when examined histologically. There was no histological confirmation of papillomatous carcinoma "in situ" in any case. We emphasise on the preoperative evaluation, the potential of these lesions to cause symptoms, and the possible consideration of papillomas as a malignant condition. The treatment of choise is cholecystectomy.References
