Ο νευροενδοκρινικός όγκος του δέρματος είναι σπανιώτατος και χαρακτηρίζεται από μεγάλο βαθμό κακοήθειας. Οι δερματικές του βλάβες εντοπίζονται συχνότερα στα άκρα, στο κεφάλι, στο λαιμό και δύνανται να υποδυθούν ευρύ φάσμα άλλων δερματικών όγκων. Τα ιστομορφολογικά ευρήματα είναι χαρακτηριστικά, αλλά όχι παθογνωμονομικά. Οι απόψεις σχετικά με την ιστογένεση του όγκου, καθώς και με την ευαισθησία και ειδικότητα των ανοσοκυτταροχημικών μελετών, εξελίσσονται συνεχώς. Η υπερμικροσκοπική μελέτη πιστοποιεί αδιαμφισβήτητα τη διάγνωση. Απαιτείται βιοχημικός-αιματολογικός και παρακλινικός έλεγχος για να αποκλεισθεί η πιθανότητα μεταστάσεων. Έχουν ήδη προσδιορισθεί κλινικο-εργαστηριακά προγνωστικά κριτήρια. Η ευρεία χειρουργική αφαίρεση και η ακτινοθεραπεία της μετεγχειρητικής ουλής, αποτελούν την πιο δόκιμη αντιμετώπιση των δερματικών βλαβών. Η χημειοθεραπεία εφαρμόζεται σε περίπτωση συστηματοποίησης της νόσου. Τα αποτελέσματά της είναι ευεργετικά, αλλά πρόσκαιρα.Αναφορές
