YΕS OR ΝΟ ΤΟ CHEMOTHERAPY ΙΝ NASOPHARYNGEAL CANCER?
Abstract
Opinions regarding the management of nasopharyngeal cancer differ and vary conciderably. As far as treatment of choise is concernd radical radiation therapy remains the foremost modality. Chemotherapy in any form such as adjuvant, neoadjuvant, radiosensitizing and aggressive did not managge to win a definite place in the management of the nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Therapeutic response remains roor, treatment toxicity high, and oνerall surνival low. The developement of a possible therapeutic combination including radiosensitizing low dose chemotherapy, differentiating agents and radiation therapy may prove beneficial.References
