The Physical Education Curriculum in the light of National and International Programmes of the DPESS of DUTH

Abstract

The purpose of the article was to present the progress of the work of the Department of Physical Education of the Democritus University of Thrace, over a period of 25 years, towards the new Curriculum and the Teacher's Guide (2021-2022) of Physical Education in Primary Education. At the same time, to present indicative national and international educational and research programs in which the new Curriculum of Physical Education is implemented, aiming to promote the health and quality of life of children and young people. It is emphasized that the ultimate goal of modern Physical Education is the education of all children to achieve physical literacy, through meaningful learning experiences, both for the school environment and for their daily lives, so that they adopt lifelong exercise for health and quality of life.
