ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE OF REDUCTION OF INFARCT SIZE AFTER THROMBOLYSIS ΙΝ ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION
Abstract
In this study estimated the extent of the infarcted myocardium by the modified Selvester quantitative QRS scoring system in patients with acute anterior myocardial infarction who achieved reperfusion after thrombolytic treatment using recombinant tissue - type plasminogen activator (rt -ΡΑ) (Ν=19). The group of reperfused patients compared to a group of patients who didn't receive thrombolysis (Ν=25). Both groups were similar with respect to age, sex, time to presentation and ischaemic index on the electrocardiogram at presentation (sum of the (Σ)SΤ segment area in leads showing ST segment elevation). Reperfusion was determined with non - invasive criteria. Eighty-six per cent (86%; 19 out of 22) of the patients who received thrombolysis achieved reperfusion. The QRS score was significantly lower in the group of reperfused patients than in group of patients who didn't receive thrombolysis [4.2. (3.3) v 7.1. (3.6)] (p<0.01).References
