DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEMS AND APPROACH ΤΟ THYROGLOSSAL DUCT CYSTS
Abstract
During the period 1981-1992 we operated on 18 cases with thyroglossal duct cyst. We analyse the difterential diagnostic problems which we encountered, as well as the results οf the surgical approach. Sistrunk's technique was the operation of choice. We compared our results with those reported in the literature. We belίeve that surgical intervention is necessary, due to the problems of preoperative difterential diagnosis and the possibility of inflammation and malignant change if the lesion is left intact.
