Επίδραση μιας παρέμβασης κινητοποίησης για φυσική δραστηριότητα/ άσκηση στο σπίτι χωρίς εποπτεία στη λειτουργικότητα κάτω άκρων και την ποιότητα ζωής γυναικών τρίτης ηλικίας

Περίληψη

Ο σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας ήταν να διερευνηθεί η εφαρμοσιμότητα μιας παρέμβασης παρακίνησης για άσκηση στο σπίτι χωρίς εποπτεία σε άτομα τρίτης ηλικίας που διαμένουν σε δυσπρόσιτη περιοχή, και η αποτελεσματικότητά της. Συγκεκριμένα, ερευνήθηκε εάν η παρέμβαση της παρούσας έρευνας οδήγησε στην βελτίωση της λειτουργικότητας των κάτω άκρων, της ικανότητας ισορροπίας και της ποιότητας ζωής. Στην έρευνα πήραν μέρος 18 γυναίκες, με μέση ηλικία 76.17 (SD=8.67) έτη. Τους δόθηκε πρόγραμμα άσκησης μυϊκής ενδυνάμωσης και ισορροπίας σύντομης διάρκειας, το οποίο θα το εκτελούσαν στο σπίτι χωρίς εποπτεία τρεις φορές εβδομαδιαία. Η μέση επίδοση των συμμετεχουσών στη δοκιμασία TUG πριν την παρέμβαση ήταν 18.33 (SD=7.69) και μετά την παρέμβαση ήταν 16.32 (SD=8.65), βελτίωση μη στατιστικά σημαντική. Η επίδοση στη δοκιμασία BBS πριν ήταν 44.28 (SD=9.74) και μετά την παρέμβαση 47.44 (SD=7.99), βελτίωση που ήταν στατιστικά σημαντική (t(17)=-4.64, p<.001). Το πρόγραμμα παρέμβασης δεν είχε σημαντική επίδραση στην σωματική, ψυχολογική, κοινωνική και περιβαλλοντική διάσταση της ποιότητας ζωής. Το 55.55% ακολούθησαν το πρόγραμμα πλήρως ή με ελάχιστη αποχή, ενώ το 44.44% ανέφεραν μερική παρακολούθηση, για 4 ή περισσότερες εβδομάδες. Στις συνεντεύξεις που έγιναν στο τέλος της έρευνας το 100% των συμμετεχουσών ανέφεραν ότι τις ικανοποίησε το πρόγραμμα. Η παρούσα έρευνα έδειξε ότι έστω μία μικρής διάρκειας παρέμβαση με ασκήσεις χαμηλής έντασης, απλό εξοπλισμό, στο σπίτι μπορεί να επιφέρει βελτίωση στην ισορροπία σε άτομα άνω των 65 ετών και να είναι αποδεκτή κι ευχάριστη. Σημαντικό ρόλο για δέσμευση στην άσκηση είχε η παρακίνηση από εξειδικευμένο προσωπικό, συγκεκριμένα από καθηγήτρια φυσικής αγωγής. Η παρούσα μελέτη μπορεί να αποτελέσει παράδειγμα για διερεύνηση της αποτελεσματικότητας και εφαρμογή σε μεγαλύτερη κλίμακα σύντομων προγραμμάτων άσκησης και σε άλλες γεωγραφικές περιοχές.
